been super busy

we have been super busy lately working on stuff for izzy's fete at school. so has mum. she has been busy knitting some amazing stuff and i am grateful she wants to be involved. i have sorted out scrapbooking papers and supplies as izzy class was ask to donate stuff of that nature. did they do that on purporse LOL? last friday night one of my friends Leonie, showed izzy and i how to make a chicken card for easter. i thought they would be perfect to make for the fete and i decided to make a rabbit as well. i will be churning these out over the weekend to send in with the other donations we have collected. i hope the fete lady is ready when we arrive. lol.

great weekend - Regional training day with Stampin' Up!

over the weekend I attended a Regional training day with Stampin' Up!. I had a blast and included a sleepover with one of the girls. Who would have thought that you could have as much fun at a sleep over when you are in your 30s and feel like you are still a 10 year old. We went to bed way too late. Leonie is a bad influcene on me LOL. (just kidding Leonie, it's just what I needed. Thanks for hanging out with me. I loved every minute of it). Thanks to all the girls that came along on the roadtrip. We had FUN. I was truly inspired and came away with a gazillion ideas. The projects we made were great and I learnt techniques I've never tried.  Getting together with girls that love to make stuff as much as I do is so what I need at the moment. I am grateful for all that we share and mostly the fun we have. I was very grateful to meet new and very talented ladies who were so willing to share their knowledge and passion for what they love. Here are pictures of 3 of the projects we made.

 

 

this is the first of the projects we tackled. mind you i had to complete mine at home as there wasn't enough time to get them all done. 

it incorporates masking and watercolouring. 2 techniques i have never done. i loved it. i have ordered watercolour paper today so i can continue fine tuning my watercolouring technique.

 

this is a very cute gift box. it uses 2 boxes cut with the bigshot. we also used water colouring here. i love the result.

 

 

 

 

this is a cute note card. the colours are beautiful. we learnt a new punch technqiue and continued with the watercolouring  and masking.

i have to say that it was a nice change from making Christmas cards. Although Christmas is my favourite time of the year, I have been making Christmas stuff since September. The diversion was very nice.

sharing

We had a great weekend. It was busy as usual. mick and izzy worked on Saturday while I went and hung out with my dear friend Cass and did a Christmas Stamp-A-Stack. I really enjoyed making cards with this group of ladies. They were fun and easy to be with. Thanks to you all for coming. In the afternoon we headed down to Lake Conjola to celebrate my sister-in-laws birthday. We had a fantastic time. I love hanging out with family. We decided not to stay down the coast and headed home. We had heaps to do Sunday. One thing Izzi tried for the first time was roller blading. She had a birthday party to go to at Oak Flats roller rink. She had a great time. She now has roller blades on her Christmas wish list. She wants to go back over the Christmas holidays. I am going to have a go to next time. I didn't want to look silly in front of the mums from school or embarass her infront of her school friends. Next time we will go by ourselves while I get used to it.

a little card series

I wanted to share a little series of cards I have been working on. I love to make a series of cards. It satisfies my need to make things in 3's and also allows me to use my stash. I am really into black cardstock and BRIGHT LOUD colours. it makes me soooo HAPPY.  I used a new series of paper from Stampin' Up! called Sweet & Sour. I am in love with this collection. It is double sided paper with gloss on one side. Pink and Orange are a match made in heaven.

i love what i do

i had the best night last night hanging out with some gals from our Stampin' Up! team. I loved sharing with them my passion for scrapbooking. Everyone sat and truly listened to my stories and my ideas for better pages and page design. They were there because they really wanted to be there.  I love being part of a community, a family and a group of women who get me and my love for what I do. I don't have to pretend in front these girls. They just get that I love making things and that I want to share it. I feel really at peace with my decision to join Stampin' Up! I really can say that I am getting so much more out of just being apart of the wider Stampin' Up! community than I ever thought I would. I have never really belonged to any online forums etc, and now I love to check in at Stampin' Connection (an online forum for demonstrators) everyday to see how everyone is and get my daily fix of all things papercraft. I love the support and most of all the FUN we have. I have made friendships that I know are going to last a lifetime. My day job is very male orientated and I love that this gives me my girlie fix! It gets me out of the house, it gets me "me time" it gets me therapy when I am having a rough trot. THANK YOU to all the amazing girls I've met. I am thankful more than you know. And a huge thankyou to my upline VANESSA WEBB, it is wasn't for you, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to know how amazing it is to be apart of such a wonderful community. 

so this week I have just wanted to stay at home and craft. i haven't wanted to go to work. work is truly getting in the way of me playing and planning for new projects and ideas. my note book is full and my mind is having trouble turning off at night. with the launch of the new catalogue fast approaching, to say i am inspired is an understatement. so to share some creativity, here is a thankyou card i made for Vanessa this past week. I hope it has arrived in the mail by now ness.

i decided to make my dad a wallet for fathers day. not a real one, just one i can put his money in that i intend to give him. he has a couple of things on his fathers day wish list so i decided that he can make his choice when he is ready. the wallet is complete with pockets for money and credit cards. i made a couple of credit cards to go in there too and a spot for a family photo. i just need to get it printed. i hope these next two photos give you the idea. 

if anyone wants to make one, i am offering this as a class on tuesday 31 august at 7.30pm. the cost will be $20.

i love making off the page stuff. off to start another busy day. the rain has just started falling here and i could easily stay home and play all day. :)

  

life doesn't have to be difficult

with life getting in the way of crafting, i know that sometimes i just need a quick and simple card in a hurry. RUB-ONS provide the perfect solution. i made 3 quick cards tonight. no stamping required. just cardstock, bone folder, paper trimmer and corner rounder and my RUB-ONS. These cards are very me. No fuss, no frills basic design with lots of white space. i am digging small cards at the moment. and i decided to create a little set focusing on green and orange as my colour inspiration.

I have had fun playing with the rub-ons tonight. I feel like i have actually achieved something. I have also made a couple of other cards to share later on. It's been a productive night. I am off to bed now to read a book a friend lent me, "eat,pray,love". I started it last night and so far so good. I love having a book to read to settle into bed of a night. it really helps me to unwind and help to get my brain to switch off.

craft room and a card to share

so this is now the state of my craft room. still quite away from where i want it to be but it's a major improvement on what the bomb site looked a couple weeks back.

 
please keep in mind that this was once any outdoor area with a plastic roof. this area has undergone a major change but is rustic to say the leaast. underneath the secondhand carpet are still the pavers and i have exposed downpipes. it all adds to the character i reckon.

here is a card i wanted to share. paper doilies are very popular at the moment in scrapbooking so i wanted to use one on a card.  my mum has heaps of paper doilies. she went through a stage of serving biscuits and cakes etc on them. so i raided her stash.

i know you can get the doilies from most bargain shops. i've seen them in heaps of different sizes. 

HERE'S THE HOW TO

supplies:

rich razzleberry card stock cut to standard card size

whisper white cardstock

scallop circle punch 

eyelet border punch

tombow glue

snail

tiny tags punch

circle circus stamp set

tiny tags stamp set

pearls from the pretties kit

rich razzleberry ink

what i did:

1. using the eyelet border punch i punched the edge of the card (the front only)

2. i placed the doily where i wanted it and folded it over the back side of the card.

3. using snail i taped the doily down.

4. i stamped the circle circus flower and punched out with the scallop circle punch.

5. i used snail to tape the circle circus flower down. then using tombow i glued down the pearl.

6. next i stamped the tiny tag sentiment and punched it out.  

7. i taped down the tag and added another pearl to the tag and i was finished.

this was a super quick and easy card to make.

hope my new internet thingo comes today. i will most definitely be checking the mail box today.

btw izzy started swimming this morning. she did very well for her first session. the coach is great and i hope this is something she keeps up with.

looking forward to crafting tonight some of my fellow stampin up demonstrators. i can't wait. these girls are amazing.
