I haven't been capturing as much of our everyday stuff lately as I have had clean up around our house and put my cameras in our multipurpose room (once was my craft room, but now Mick, Izzy and I are sharing this room, talk about how we have set this up in a later post).
It makes me sad that I am not taking as many pics. I need to move the cameras back. In the mean time I having been storing, sorting and backing up my photo files. I have been getting photos printed. This is big for me. Getting to the shops is not high on my priority but since doing project life I have enjoyed the process of editing photos, getting them printed and telling stories in a quick and easy way without a great deal of fuss. I am getting caught up since I didn't get my kit until the first week of march. Hoping to have this well in hand by the end of this weekend.
A couple of weeks back Izzy and I made some paper pom poms to hang in our room. The first one was a disaster. But hey we got the idea. We left it laying on the floor while we made a more successful second one. While we were busy, Roxy got hold of the first pom pom and started to shake it. It was so funny. Luckily that one was a dud. Izzy teased her with it and in the end she totally destroyed it. It was hilarious to watch. I should have video taped it.
We have been hanging out not doing a great deal for the school holidays. Mostly this past week Izzy and I have hung out together between running back and forth to work. I have been crocheting a rug for Mick and Izzy is loving her new set up in the mp room. She has been working on her computer and enjoying being closer to the living room of our house rather than being up the end of the house in her bedroom.
We started getting ready for Easter around here yesterday. We decorated eggs (which is the first time I have done this with Izzy) and we baked. I enjoy baking soooo much. I so wished I was a stay at home mum. I should have been born 80 years ago. I am very old fashioned. I love having a dinner cooked for Mick when he gets home from work. I love to bake. I love to brew tea leaves and have a pot of tea instead of a tea bag. I am crocheting for goodness sake. I am loving it. I love having my house clean and having everyone's pjs in the bathroom in the evening, our clothes ready for the next day. Fresh towels daily. The little things my mum used to do that you really do take for granted until you're a full time working mum who doesn't have the time to do it all. I love the feeling of being organised and having the fridge fully stocked with fresh food. Having our meals planned. I wish I could do it all, but sadly I am tired by the end of the day and instead get mad at myself when I don't get everything done. I have given myself permission this year to chillax. However I realise that I am a control freak and I do like to be on top of things. That's when I do feel happy. So I guess I need to find a compromise somewhere in all of that makes me feel like I am on top of things and leave time to chillax as well.
Anyway enough of the self therapy session. Here is a look at our egg decorating and baking efforts. I haven't taken a picture of the finished eggs, so pics are of the process instead. I baked the cakes and Izzy decorated them. She did a brilliant job. They are delicious too.
We used Speckled Eggs on the cakes above. I have never had them before, but we think we have just found our new favourite easter egg. Man they are GOOOD!!! I am going to battle the crowds tomorrow at the shops to try and get my hands on some more. They are a must on my Easter table from now on. I like to have little bowls of eggs out on our kitchen table for guests to help themselves.
Anyway off to make breakfast for my family who are both still in bed. I loooove long weekends and sleepins. Although I don't sleep in, they do and I love this couple of hours of quiet time all to myself. I get a huge cup of tea and just sit at my computer and blog surf and check out face book and write blog posts. Hooroo. Off to make pancakes. Have a happy Good Friday.
Love the nests! :)
